Home Cinema Audio tends to be dealt with separately from any multiroom audio system in a domestic environment although it may well be linked into it. The obvious reason is that home cinema is normally a 5.1, 7.1 or even 9.1 system with 5, 7 or 9 satellite speakers around the room and a quality sub-woofer often positioned discretely. In most cases a 5.1 system will suffice unless the room is perhaps larger than the average lounge.
The AV receiver will accept several audio inputs from media players, DVD, set-top boxes, etc.. and depending on the audio format will output to the appropriate speakers which can be ceiling mounted, in-wall or surface mounted.
